Salvatore Sorrenti, born at Catanzaro; after his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the I° Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Roma "La Sapienza" with 110/110 cum laude votation, he attended to post-graduate course in "Gastrointestinal Surgery and Digestive Endoscopy", which conclude in 1998 with 70/70 cum laude votation. In 1997 he spent a period at the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Head Prof. Mauri Lepäntalo, at the Helsinki University Central Hospital. From 1999 to 2002 he was engaged in a doctorate of "Technical and Methodological Applications in Endoscopic and Mini-invasive Surgery" at the University of Roma "La Sapienza", and he obtained the Ph.D. in 2002. He won twice (in 1993 and 2002) the "Ettore Ruggieri" prize, assigned by the Società Italiana di Chirurgia (S.I.C.). The Surgical Science Department of the University of Roma "La Sapienza" drew up with him a biannual cooperation contract (2002-2004) for a project entitled " Study of intra-operatory PTH in parathyroid surgery". In 2006 he won a permanent position as Unconfirmed Researcher (Aggregate Professor) at the I° Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Roma "La Sapienza", MED18; in 2015 he won the Associate Professor competition which he holds until now. In September 2018 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor (Med/18; 06 / C1).
He taught in the 'academic year 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 General Surgery in the integrated course of "Methodology VI" in the degree of "B" Medicine and Surgery at the I° Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Roma "La Sapienza". He teaches since the 'academic year 2009-2010 General Surgery (Endocrine Surgery) in course Integrated Pathology III, at the I° Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Roma "La Sapienza" the same academic year teaches in the General Surgery Degree in Nursing Y Sapienza University of Rome. It 'also Professor in the following Schools of Specialisation: Digestive Surgery and Endoscopy Surgery, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery.
He has written more than 100 scientific papers published on international and national journals. He often participates to congresses in Italy and abroad, where it has been also invited as a speaker. His research activity is focused on the the development and improvement of surgical techniques mainly in the field of Endocrine Surgery, colorectal, breast surger, and on the definition of new clinical and analytical parameters useful for diagnosis of head, neck and breast tumour pathologies.
