Simone Pollo is PhD in Bioethics (Università di Genova 2001). From 2002 to 2005 he has participated to the research project Anim.Al.See (“Alternative methods in animal experimentation: evaluating scientific, ethical and social issues in the 3Rs context”), financed by the European Union.  From 2006 to 2010 he has been temporary research fellow at the Faculty of Philosophy of Sapienza University of Rome. He has taught at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (“Bioethics”) at the University of Tuscia (“Bioethics”) and at the University of Turin (“Ethics of human-animal relationships”). He has been a member of the board of the Master in Practical Ethics and Bioethics, at Sapienza University of Rome and secretary of the Bioethics Commitee for Veterinary Surgeons. He is a member of the scientific board of Politeia and he is Editorial assistant of the journal Iride. Filosofia e discussione pubblica. His research interests are focused on applied ethics and bioethics (especially on the topics of reproductive ethics and human/non-human relationships). In the field of theoretical ethics he is interested in the topic of naturalism and he focuses on the contributions of neuroscience and ethology to philosophical ethics in the framework of Darwinism. He is the author of the books “Scegliere chi nasce. L’etica della riproduzione umana tra libertà e responsabilità” (Guerini, Milano 2003) “La morale della natura” (Laterza, Roma-Bari 2008), “Umani e animali. Questioni di etica” (Carocci, Roma 2016). He has also participated to E. Lecaldano “Dizionario di bioetica” (Laterza, Roma-Bari 2002) and he has edited (with M. Balistreri) “Bioetica e mass-media. Le questioni della privacy e della buona informazione” (Guerini, Milano 2004).
