Professore Ordinario presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica Materiali Ambiente dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza”, Settore scientifico-disciplinare: ING-IND/29 – Ingegneria delle Materie Prime.

Attualmente è titolare degli insegnamenti di “Recupero e riciclaggio dei materiali” (9 CFU) nel Corso di Laurea Magistrale di Ingegneria per l’Ambiente e il Territorio (sede di Roma), di “Tecnologie avanzate per il riciclo dei materiali” (6 CFU) nel Corso di Laurea Magistrale di Ingegneria dell’Ambiente per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile (sede di Latina) e di “Scienze della sostenibilità in ingegneria” (Modulo Materie Prime e Riciclo: 1 CFU) offerto a tutti gli studenti di tutti i corsi di laurea dell’Ateneo Sapienza.

L’attività di ricerca scientifica riguarda il settore della caratterizzazione e valorizzazione delle materie prime primarie e secondarie ed è documentata da circa 200 lavori scientifici pubblicati su riviste internazionali e su atti di congressi internazionali, e dalla partecipazione a numerosi progetti di ricerca, 12 dei quali finanziati dall’Unione europea.

INCARICHI ISTITUZIONALI
- Direttore del Museo di Arte e Giacimenti Minerari del Polo Museale Sapienza, ubicato presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale (sede di Latina) dal 2012.
- Referente del Gruppo di Lavoro “Rifiuti” della RUS (Rete delle Università per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile) per l’Università di Roma “La Sapienza” dal 2019.
- Coordinatore del Dottorato di Ricerca in Ingegneria Elettrica, dei Materiali e delle Nanotecnologie dal 2015 al 2018.
- Membro della Giunta del Consiglio d’Area Didattica del corso di laurea in Ingegneria Ambientale e Industriale della Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale dal 2011.
- Responsabile della Commissione orientamento in ingresso del corso di laurea in Ingegneria Ambientale e Industriale della Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale dal 2019.
- Membro del Collegio di Dottorato di Ricerca in Ingegneria Elettrica, dei Materiali e delle Nanotecnologie dal 2011.


Responsabile di DUE LABORATORI PER ATTIVITA' DI RICERCA:
• “RawMaLab - RAW MAterials LABoratory”, presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica Materiali Ambiente, Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale, sede di Roma.
• “Laboratorio di Ingegneria delle Materie Prime”, presso la Facoltà di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale, sede di Latina.
I laboratori sono dotati di sensori iperspettrali operanti negli intervalli 400-1000, 1000-1700 e 1000-2500 nm, di spettroradiometri portatili da campo ad alta risoluzione spettrale (400-2500 nm), di spettrofotometri miniaturizzati (microNIR), di strumentazione per analisi in micro-fluorescenza a raggi X di ultima generazione, per analisi alla microscopia ottica-digitale in luce trasmessa e riflessa, per analisi di nanoparticelle mediante diffrattometria laser, per spettroscopia Raman.

- Coordinatore del progetto finanziato dalla Commissione Europea LIFE12 ENV/IT/000356: RESAFE - Innovative fertilizer from urban waste, bio-char and farm residues as substitute of chemical fertilizers. (Periodo: 01 Gennaio 2014 – 31 Dicembre 2015).
- Responsabile scientifico del Progetto INAIL BRIC - P9 Programma speciale amianto –ID:58 “Riconoscimento e caratterizzazione di materiali contenenti amianto a scala di laboratorio mediante analisi d’immagine iperspettrale e correlazione con le informazioni estraibili da telerilevamento di prossimità e remoto (aereo e satellitare)” (durata: giugno 2017- dicembre 2019).
- Responsabile scientifico per Sapienza del “Manta River Project”, coordinato dall’Autorità Distrettuale del Fiume Po-Ministero dell’Ambiente, volto ad individuare e caratterizzare le microplastiche campionate lungo il corso del fiume Po (Periodo: 2020).
