Serena Buti in 2019 obtained a bachelor’s degree in "Languages, Cultures, Literatures, Translation" (L-11) at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", discussing a thesis entitled "The Duel of Anton Čechov" (Prof. B. Ronchetti). During her bachelor’s studies, she attended language courses in Moscow (Pushkin Institute; MSUPE) and Warsaw (Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University). In 2022, she obtained her master’s degree in "Linguistic, Literary and Translation Sciences" (LM-37) at "La Sapienza", discussing a thesis entitled "Post-Romantic Self-Creation in Biesy by Piotr Odmieniec Włast" (Prof. M. Woźniak, Prof. L. Marinelli). In this work, she offered the first Italian translation of the poetic prose Biesy and proposed a different reading of this work. Some results of the thesis were presented at the Tenth International Conference of master’s Students at the University of Katowice. After her master’s degree, she stayed in Krakow (Jagiellonian University) with a scholarship from the Polish government. She is currently a PhD student in 'Germanic and Slavic Studies' (Slavic Studies curriculum) at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'. Her research interests include literary translation studies, particularly poetic translation, relations between Polish, Ukrainian and Russian literatures, especially in border areas, and gender studies.
