Rafał Molencki is a professor of English and linguistics at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. His major research interests are historical linguistics, Indo-European and Germanic studies, medieval English, paleography, varieties of English, prescriptivism, contrastive studies and theory and practice of translation. He is the author of three books: Complementation in Old English (1991), A History of English Counterfactuals (1999) and Causal Conjunctions in Mediaeval English: A Corpus-Based Study of Grammaticalization (2012) and more than 60 articles. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Linguistica Silesiana and the head of the regional Linguistics Committee of Polish Academy of Sciences.
