Education: Graduated in Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1986 and at the same University; from 1986 to 1988 he served as a scientific visitor; in 1990, he took up service as a technical collaborator and subsequently in application of the DD.RR of 21/04/1993 and 26/11/1993, he worked at the Department of Chemistry and Technologies of Biologically Active Substances, University of Rome "La Sapienza", Faculty of Pharmacy in the VIII functional qualification, Technical Officer profile, pursuant to art. 9 of law 21/91. From 1.11.2000 he has been a researcher in SSD Chim 08; from 01.03.2022 he holds the role of associate professor in SSD Chim 08, SC 03 / D1
Scientific activity: The scientific activity documented by works in international journals has covered various issues in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry. In the first years of activity, research was mainly oriented to the design, synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of heterocyclic structures whose antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-tuberculosis activity was subsequently tested; in this field pyrrole derivatives, allylamine derivatives, heteroarylmethanamine derivatives, 2-thiazolylhydrazone derivatives, 1-phenylethanes, 1-4-diarylimidazoles and benzylamines have been synthesized; subsequently the research concerned the design and synthesis of structures of pyrazole derivatives as inhibitors of the two isoforms of monoamine oxidase and study of structure-activity relationships; since in some cases the racemic mixture of the final products was obtained, the enantiomers were separated in order to verify the activity of the raceme and the individual enantiomers; the most recent topic mainly concerns the design, synthesis and biological validation of molecules with heterocyclic structure, potential modulators (inhibitors, activators and substrates) of enzymes (histone acetyltransferase / deacetylase HAT / HDAC, histone methyltransferase / demethylase EZH2 / LSD1) involved in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression, and therefore potential new generation anticancer agents. This line of research finds its presuppositions in epigenetics which, as is known, embraces all the heritable and reversible modifications that occur on the genome and which alter the levels of gene expression without altering the nucleotide sequence, which encodes the DNA. The main changes are the acetylation / deacetylation of the histone tails and the methylation / demethylation of the DNA and the histone tails themselves. It has been noted that in some forms of cancer, the enzymatic systems that promote these changes are overexpressed or mutated, therefore, the search for molecules capable of inhibiting these enzymatic systems could be useful in the oncology field. In reality, since it is a control on gene transcription, these molecules could also impact on other pathologies such as cardiovascular and metabolic dysfunctions, neurodegenerative diseases, inflammatory processes, parasite infections.

Teaching activity: Over the years I have gained a long teaching experience, following a path of gradual growth, starting with support and integration activities, a.y. in Pharmacy) and Medicines Analysis II (A-L) (Degree in Pharmacy). (SSD CHIM08) and Pharmaceutical Chemical and Toxicological Analysis II A-L (Degree course in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies). (SSD CHIM08). From the 2002-2003 academic year to date she has been the holder of numerous courses in the field of the SSD CHIM 08 and currently she is the holder of the Course of Medicinal Analysis II, for the CdS Pharmacy, of the teaching of Pharmaceutical Chemistry for the three-year degree in Biotechnology and of the Optional Course of Complements of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry for the CdS Pharmacy.

Other activities: in the three-year periods 2014-2017 and 2017-2020 Elected representative of teaching staff - Researchers - in the Board of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine; in the two-year period 2014-2016, 2016-2018 and 2018-2020 Elected representative of teaching staff - Researchers - in the Board of the Department of Chemistry and Drug Technologies; from 2016 to 2020 Director Director of the Advanced Training Course "Preparation for the state exam for qualification to practice as a pharmacist." From a.a. 2017 to date Project Manager for the "Pathways for Cross Skills for Orientation (PCTO); from 2021 to date Lecturer at the Research Center and Saperi Services & Co University La Sapienza; with Rector's Decree appointed in 2021 Member of the University working group for the Assessment and Management of chemical risk in laboratories. From 2021 to today Department contact person in the 2021-2023 performance plan "Objective 5.23 Organizational Well-being Survey" plan approved by the Board of Directors in the session of 28/01/2021. For the three-year period 2022-2025 Member of the Steering Committee of the Research Center for Nanotechnologies Applied to Engineering of Sapienza (CNIS). From March 2022 appointed contact person for orientation for the department.
