Thesis title: Progettare il futuro in un mondo globale. Le prospettive politico-culturali del Club di Roma (1968–1986)

The thesis analyzes the experience of the Club of Rome in the period between 1968 and 1986. Through the analysis of archival sources, in particular the Aurelio Peccei Archive, and of the main reports published by the organization, the study aims to overcome the reductive interpretation that identifies the Club almost exclusively with The Limits to Growth (1972), instead restoring the variety and complexity of its intellectual production. The research reconstructs the origins, functioning, and main lines of reflection developed within the Club, highlighting how it represented an international forum for debate aimed at interpreting the growing interdependence of economic, social, technological, and environmental problems. Through its reports and the activities promoted by its members, the Club of Rome contributed to disseminating a vision of the world based on the idea of limits, a systemic approach to global problems, and the need to elaborate long-term perspectives for the future of humanity.
