Thesis title: Tito Vespasiano Strozzi, Eroticon libri I-III. Edizione critica e traduzione, con il commento al Liber I
This thesis presents the critical edition of the first three books of the "Eroticon libri" by Tito Vespasiano Strozzi, a Ferrarese poet of the fifteenth century and one of the leading figures of Latin humanist elegiac poetry. The work, written in elegiac couplets and inspired by classical love poetry, is here reconstructed through a text based on a comparative examination of the main manuscripts and prints, accompanied by a critical apparatus that records the most significant textual variants. Alongside the Latin edition, the thesis offers a complete translation of all three books.
An analytical commentary accompanies the first book, focusing on the philological and intertextual aspects of the work, with particular attention to Strozzi’s dialogue with the classical elegiac tradition and with the cultural milieu of Ferrara in the XV century .
