Research: Evaluation of the Hydrogen Storage Potential of Porous-Media Depleted Hydrocarbon Reservoirs of Italy

Always fascinated by Earth Sciences, I pursued a scientific course of study culminating in the achievement of a bachelor's degree in 2016 and a master's degree with honors in 2020, both at the University of Rome "La Sapienza." During my studies, I worked in the tourism sector, learning to interact with people from different cultures and perspectives, but it was through my master's thesis project that I had the opportunity to apply what I had studied and refine my knowledge. After graduation, thanks to the support of the staff at the Tectonics and Fluid Chemistry Laboratory (TFC Lab) of DST-Sapienza, I collaborated on several projects in Italy and abroad, specializing in the field of geochemistry, particularly in the sampling and analysis of soil gases using highly specialized instruments. From 2022 to 2024, I have conducted a research project focused on the "Evaluation of the Hydrogen Storage Potential of Porous-Media Depleted Hydrocarbon Reservoirs of Italy". The project aims to build the first Italian database of potential geological hydrogen storage sites, rank them based on their storage potential, and perform a detailed study of one specific site. This innovative project, developed in collaboration with Eni and supported by the European Union, is designed to contribute to the transition toward a more sustainable energy system.
