Prof Paolo Cherubini, PhD


Born: 27/1/1968.


Graduation: summa cum laude, experimental psychology, university of Padua, 1991.


PhD: experimental psychology, University of Padua, 1997 (one-year training at the University of Sussex, 1994).


Current academic role: full professor of general and experimental Psychology (from 2006, at University of Milano Bicocca; from 2022 at University of Pavia).


Publications & research: 88 international and national scientific publications, including 53 international, peer-reviewed scientific papers. I attracted more than 1,2 million euros in research funds through three PRIN (“Research Project of National Relevance”) projects.


Foreign languages: C2-level Cambridge Proficiency Certificate in English


Teaching experience: In the past I taught many courses in various topics of general and applied cognitive sciences. Currently, I teach “learning, thinking and intelligence”, “logic and psychology of reasoning and decision making”, “logic of diagnosis”, “general psychology” at the University of Pavia, University of Padua, and Conservatorio di Milano “Giuseppe Verdi”.


Research Interests: cognitive science and human cognitive psychology, with specific reference on human reasoning, decision making, and attention, both in general and in the applied fields of law and medicine.


Organizational experience: vast experience of university management at the national and European levels, e.g. with roles as vice-rector and prorector at the university of Milano Bicocca (2013-2019), membership in the board of EUA, active role as ENQA agent, appointments as consultant by MUR and ANVUR, etc.


Publications: more than one hundred international and national scientific articles, books, and book chapters published.
