Research interests
Indo-European linguistics. Iranian and Indo-aryan linguistics. Greek. Coptic. Italo-romance dialects. Etymology. Historical phonology and morphology. Theory of morphology. History of writing systems. History of the linguistic thought.

Other scientific activities
Member of research units involved in several Research Projects of National Interest (PRIN 2008, 2010, 2017, 2020). Member of the Scientific Board of the Italian Phd in “Scienze documentarie, filologiche, linguistiche e letterarie” at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (from 2012-2013 to 2014-2015) and, subsequently, of the Scientific board of the Italian Phd in “Linguistica” at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and the University “Roma Tre”. Member of the scientific board of the journal «Storia, Antropologia e Scienze del Linguaggio». He has served as peer reviewer for several international journals (among which «Journal of Linguistics», «Journal of Historical Linguistics», «Archivio Glottologico Italiano»). Member of the Società Italiana di Glottologia, of the ISMEO (International Association of Mediterranean and Oriental Studies), of the Sodalizio Glottologico Milanese.

Education and academic titles
2017 Italian National Scientific Habilitation for full professorship in Historical Linguistics and General Linguistics.
2014 Italian National Scientific Habilitation for associate professorship in Historical Linguistics and General Linguistics
2004 Fellowship granted by the University of Rome “La Sapienza” to attend the Sprachwissenschaftliches Seminar at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität di Freiburg im Breisgau.
2003 Dottorato di Ricerca (analogous to PhD) in “Historical linguistics and Philology” at the University of Milan. Dissertation: “Morfofonologia dell’infisso nasale indoeuropeo” (Morphophonology of PIE nasal infix).
1998 Laurea 110/100 cum laude at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Major: History of Greek literature. Dissertation: “Ricerche sulla Retorica di Anassimene di Lampsaco” (Investigations on Anaxymenes’ Rhetoric) (tutor Luigi Enrico Rossi).
