Thesis title: Danza e teatro nelle collezioni museali. Un progetto di valorizzazione e comunicazione digitale

This research explores the role of the contemporary museum as a narrative space for cultural heritage, with a particular focus on performative arts such as dance and theatre. Through the case study of MUCIV. The Museum of Civilizations in Rome, the thesis investigates how performative objects, such as masks, costumes, puppets and reliefs from diverse geographical contexts, can be presented to the public in ways that evoke their gestural, symbolic, and contextual dimensions. The study is structured into three phases: a historical and critical analysis of the collections; an examination of existing communicative and technological models; the design of an experimental proposal for digital enhancement and communication. The project aims to overcome traditional static exhibition practices by proposing multimedia and interactive solutions for a more inclusive, dynamic, and participatory experience, alongside a communication strategy for the museum’s social media and website. In this framework, the museum is reimagined as a space that mediates between material objects and ephemeral practices, embracing performativity as an interpretive key and digital media as a means of connecting heritage with communities.
