Paola Besutti, musicologist and pianist, is Full Professor in Musicology and music history, President of DAMS Degree (Drama, Arts, Music Studies) and member of Academic Senate at Teramo University; she is also member of the PhD Program on Musica e spettacolo at Rome “La Sapienza” University. Member of the Scientific Commitee of the journals «Studi musicali» and «Civiltà mantovana», she was director of the «Rivista Italiana di Musicologia» (2003-2010). She is an full member of the Virgilian National Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters (Mantova), where she currently holds the role of President of the Letters Class and of Artistic Director of "Concerti dell’Accademia" (since 2006). Her publications as author and editor include inter alia: Claudio Monteverdi. Studi e prospettive (1998), The ‘Sala degli Specchi’ uncovered: Monteverdi, the Gonzagas and the Palazzo Ducale, Mantua (1999), L'oratorio musicale italiano e i suoi contesti (secc.
