Research: Advanced cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries: synthesis, thermodynamic stability, and electrochemical performance
Omar Al Zeer was born in Modena on January 17, 1999.
In 2021, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Sapienza University of Rome under the supervision of Prof. Enrico Bodo, defending the thesis entitled “The chemistry of the interstellar medium and the discovery of the CH₂CCH radical”, graduating with full marks (110/110) and honors. In 2025, he obtained his Master’s degree in Chemical Sciences at the same institution under the supervision of Prof. Sergio Brutti, defending the experimental thesis “Optimization of Li–O₂ batteries with redox mediators and fluorinated cosolvents: experimental study and post-mortem characterization”.
During his undergraduate and graduate studies, he was awarded three collaboration scholarship at Sapienza University laboratories and a tutoring grant for the Physical Chemistry course within the Bachelor’s degree program in Food and Industrial Biotechnology.
Since November 2025, he has held a PhD position in Electrical, Materials, Raw Materials and Nanotechnology Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome, under the supervision of Prof. Stefano Vecchio Ciprioti and Prof. Sergio Brutti.
