Matteo Sanfilippo (Florence 1956) is Full Professor of Modern History at the Dipartimento di Scienze Umane e della Comunicazione of the Università della Tuscia (4, S. Maria in Gradi, 01100 Viterbo, Italy, matteosanfilippo@unitus.it). Moreover, he is the Director of the Historical Institute of the Scalabrinian Fathers (11, via Calandrelli, 00153 Rome, direttore@cser.it). He is also co-editor of Archivio storico dell’emigrazione italiana and of the related Web Site www.asei.eu, and co-ordinatore of the journal Studi emigrazione. He is the author of 31 books and 430 essays, and the editor of 59 books and journals’ special issues.
