Studied Psychology at the University of Malta and at the London School of Economics. Joined the University of Malta in 1992 as a member of the Department of Psychology. In 2006 was appointed Pro-Rector in charge of Students and Staff Affairs, a post she occupied for 10 years. Authored several works published in both Maltese and international journals. Won a National Book Prize awarded by the National Book Council (Malta) for the book Exploring the Maltese Media Landscape co-authored with J. Borg. In addition to her academic career, Professor Mary Anne Lauri served in managerial roles in the media and communications industries, such as the state broadcaster, PBS, and Beacon Media Communications. She has also served as chair and director on boards within the education and social welfare sectors. She is active in political organizations and several NGOs.
