Mario Gervasi is an Associate Professor of International Law at the Department of Political Science of the University of Bari, where he previously served as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (RTDB) from 2022 to 2025.
Prior to this, he was a Junior Assistant Professor of International Law (RTDA) at the Department of Legal and Economic Studies of Sapienza University of Rome. He obtained his PhD from the same university and holds an LLM in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the School of Law at the University of Essex (United Kingdom).
He has been a visiting professor at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in Wuhan (China), and a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg (Germany), as well as the Luxembourg Centre for European Law at the University of Luxembourg.
His research focuses on law-making processes in international law, with a particular emphasis on international environmental protection.
In addition to several contributions published in journals and edited volumes, he is the author of the monograph Prevention of Environmental Harm under General International Law: An Alternative Reconstruction (ESI/Nomos 2021, pp. XVIII-430), which was reviewed in the Italian Yearbook of International Law (2022), the Rivista di diritto internazionale (2022), and Nachhaltigkeitsrecht (2023).
