Associate professor in the sector L-FIL-LET/13 "Philology of Italian Literature" she has mainly investigated culture and literature of Humanism, by deepening the problems connected to the translation from the Greek (Leonardo Bruni traduttore di Demostene: la"Pro Ctesiphonte ', Genova 1986) and to the commentaries on classics (Le postille del Petrarca a Quintiliano. Cod. Par. Lat. 7720, Firenze 1988). She has carried several researches on Pomponius Letus, Roman humanist and teacher at the Studium Urbis, and on the Mirabilia Urbis Romae (Contributi sui Mirabilia urbis Romae, Genova 1996, and in collaboration with Ermina Dell’Oro I Mirabilia urbis Romae, Tivoli, Tored, 2004). In addition, she has studied Pomponius Letus’ courses on Varro’s De Lingua Latina, with a special attention to the news on the topography of Rome (Pomponio Leto e la topografia di Roma, “Journal of Ancient Topography, Rivista di topografia antica” VII (1997) ed. 1999, pp. 187-194), to his teaching within the Studium Urbis (L’insegnamento di Pomponio Leto nello Studium Urbis, in Storia della Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia de la “La Sapienza”, a c. di L. She has published a biographical profile of Pomponius (Pomponio Leto. Vita e insegnamento, with Marcantonius Sabellicus’ letter on Pomponius’ life ed. by Erminia Dell’Oro, Tivoli, Tored, 2008). She has organized the workshop “Volgarizzare e tradurre dall’Umanesimo all’età contemporanea” held on December 7, 2011 at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters, Humanistic Sciences, and Oriental Studies of the University of Rome “Sapienza”(publ. Tivoli, Tored ed., 2013, ibid. she has published L'interesse di Poliziano per gli autori cristiani. La traduzione di Atanasio, pp. 47-81). She has worked to the edition of Politianus’ Latin version of the Epistola ad Marcellinum by Athanasius of Alexandria: Poliziano traduttore di Atanasio. L'Epistola ad Marcellinum, Tivoli-Rome, ed. Tored, 2012. She participated with a report Le Vite di Varrone nei corsi di Pomponio Leto to the workshop “Vitae Pomponianae. Maria Accame participated with the conference “The Pomponio Leto’s Library” at the La Paideia degli Umanisti. Studies in philology and paleography in honor of Lucia Gualdo Rosa held at the Accademia of Denmark in Rome and the University of Rome "Sapienza" on February 27-28, 2015. In 2016 she organized at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Rome "Sapienza" the workshop "Volgarizzare e Tradurre 2 dal Medioevo all’Età contemporanea”, 3-4 March 2016 participating with a report "Delle Miracholi di Roma prima della Meta e dello Chastello. She participated with the report Osservazioni di Leonardo Bruni sulla traduzione dell’Etica Nicomachea e della Politica di Aristotele at the Coference Specola Historicorum. Trasmissione e tradizione dei testi storiografici nel mondo greco held on November 10-11, 2016 at the University of L'Aquila (currently being published at the Tored editions of Tivoli).
She participates with a report on Pomponio Leto to the program of the edition of the autographs of Italian writers being published in Autographs of Italian writers. The Quattrocento, edited by F. Bausi, M. Campanelli, S. Carrai, T. De Robertis, S. Gentile, J. Hankins, II, Rome, Salerno Editrice.
She conducted a study on the translation into the vernacular of the Tractatus de rebus antiquis et situ urbis Romae, known as "Anonimo Magliabechiano" (dated 1411) handed down in the Magliabechiano code cl. XXVIII 53 of the National Library of Florence datable to the beginning of the XVI century, the Antiquities of the alma Roma: a vulgarization of the "Anonimo Magliabechiano" in "Travel papers" 10, 2017, pp. 9-16.
She waited for the study of the Region of the fourteen regions of Rome re-elaborated by Pomponio Leto with observations of a topographical-archaeological character drawn from his university courses, in particular from the Varronian comments: The Interpolated Region of Pomponio Leto, in "RR Roma in the Renaissance" 2017 , pp. 275-300.
She conducted a study on the Emporium by Antonio Mancinelli highlighting the didactic character of the work: Il Latini sermonis Emporium by Antonio Mancinelli «Medioevo e Rinascimento» XXXI, n. s. XXIX 2017, pp. 277-287.
She illustrated the method followed by Piero Vettori in amending the texts for which his declarations are important in some letters and in the prefaces to the editions of Greek and Latin authors he edited: Reflections by Piero Vettori on the restitution of texts, "Critica del testo "XXI 1, 2018, pp. 79-95.
She reconstructed the character and consistency of the Pomponio Leto library, of which we own several autographs and manuscripts he noted, taking into consideration recent studies on the subject: Pomponio Leto's library, "La parola del testo" XXIII 1-2, 2019, pp. 55-64.
She illustrated the philological principles underlying the work of Vincenzo Borghini in restoring the texts of the first centuries of Italian vernacular literature, such as the Novellino, the Cronica by Giovanni Villani, the Decameron of Boccaccio: Vincenzo Borghini and the problem of the restitution of the texts, "Letteratura italiana antica" XX 2019, pp. 517-528.

Teaching activity
She has held teaching modules on issues related to the disciplinary sector L-FIL-LET / 13 (Philology of Italian Literature), paying particular attention to characters and problems of Italian literature of the fourteenth and fifteenth century both on the production side in Latin and on that of the production in vernacular. In some courses she took into consideration more specific subjects of medieval Latin literature. In the years before the entry into the role of associate professor (1/7 / 1981-31 / 12/2004) she held teaching modules, seminar activities, assistance to students in collaboration with the chair of Medieval and Humanistic Philology, participated in exam commissions and graduation sessions. At the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, in a. y. 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99 held the teaching of Humanistic Philology, in a. y. 1999-2000, 2000-2001 the teaching of Medieval and Humanistic Philology, in a. y. 2001-2002, 2002-2003, 2003-2004 the teaching of Medieval and Humanistic Latin Philology.
The teaching activity as an associate professor in the L-FIL-LET / 13 Philology of Italian Literature at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy (later Philosophy, Humanities, Humanities and Oriental Studies) of the University of Rome 'Sapienza' was as follows:

2007-2008 teaching modules on For a critical edition (I semester), Erasmus and the Children's Etiquette (2nd semester);
2008-2009 teaching modules on Transmission of the text: from the manuscript to the press (1st semester), A professor of the Studium Urbis: Pomponio Leto (2nd semester);
2009-2010 teaching modules on Elements of Philology of Italian Literature (I semester), Problems of critical edition (2nd semester);
2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019 teaching modules on Outlines of Philology of Italian Literature (1st semester), Textual Philology (annual), Medieval and Humanistic Philology (1st semester);
She was a member of the Commission for the approval of the study plans, followed as a supervisor several degree theses (of the old system, of a new three-year and specialist-master's degree).

She is a member of the Academic Board of the Ph.D in "Italian Studies" of the University of Rome "Sapienza".
She is editorial and scientific director since 2002 of the Series «Ricerche di Filologia, Letteratura e Storia» of Tored publications, Tivoli, for the sector “Letteratura e Filologia medievale e umanistica”.
She is part (from 2012) of the Scientific Committee of the Journal “Rationes Rerum. Rivista di filologia e storia” and of the Journal "Letteratura italiana antica".
She has participated in many research projects of scientific interest (PRIN: 1997-2002, 2003-2008, 2010-2016).
She is a member of the “Società dei Filologia della Letteratura italiana” (SFLI) and of the “Consulta Universitaria di Studi latini” (CUSL).
