Michele Sisto is Associate Professor of German Literature at Università ‘Gabriele d’Annunzio,’ Chieti-Pescara (Italy). Since 2004, he has been carrying out research on translated literature in Italy, considering it as part of the national repertoire together with the works of Italian writers. He is coordinator of the research network LTit – Letteratura tradotta in Italia, founder of the book series of the same name (Quodlibet), and chief editor of the portal www.ltit.it.

His studies focus both on major German writers (Goethe, Büchner, Kafka, Karl Kraus, Gunther Anders, Günter Grass, Christa Wolf) and on their literary mediators in Italy (Michiel Salom, Giovita Scalvini, Benedetto Croce, Giuseppe Prezzolini, Giuseppe Antonio Borgese, Lavinia Mazzucchetti, Alberto Spaini, Cesare Cases, Enrico Filippini, Erich Linder). Further research ranges from literary theory to masculinity studies, from sociology of literature to internet studies.

Among his main publications: L’invenzione del futuro. Breve storia letteraria della DDR dal dopoguerra a oggi (ed., Libri Scheiwiller, 2009), Cesare Cases, Scegliendo e scartando. Pareri di lettura (ed., Aragno 2013), La letteratura tedesca in Italia. Un’introduzione (1900-1920) (Quodlibet, 2018, with A. Baldini, D. Biagi, S. De Lucia, I. Fantappiè), and Traiettorie. Studi sulla letteratura tradotta in Italia (Quodlibet 2019).
