Materiali isolanti:
Materiali estrusi alto polimerici per cavi alta tensione sia AC che DC (XLPE, EPR, compound semiconduttivi). Materiali “massa impregnata” per cavi HVDC (impregnamento carta e olio). Materiali per isolatori di linee aeree in alta tensione: vetro, porcellana, EPDM, gomme siliconiche (siliconi HTV, siliconi RTV, siliconi LSR). Materiali isolanti alto polimerici in PVC ed EPR per cavi di bassa tensione.

Test di Laboratorio (prove di tipo e di routine su componenti alta tensione AC e DC):
Cavi. Isolatori. Isolatori passanti. Reattori induttivi in aria. Reattori di spianamento DC. Resistori di potenza. Scaricatori di sovratensione. Valvole a tiristori. Misure di permettività e resistività di volume di materiali dielettrici.

Esperienze su test di laboratorio in alta tensione:
Prove con sovratensioni atmosferiche e di manovra con forme d’onda standard e non convenzionali. Prove con tensioni AC e DC. Prove di inversione di polarità. Prove di scariche parziali e di cariche di spazio (su materiali isolanti solidi). Prove di surriscaldamento. Prove di contaminazione superficiale isolatori. Test meccanici (su isolatori e cavi). Prove accelerate di invecchiamento elettrico e termico singolo e combinato. Attività di root cause analysis su guasti di cavi sia AC che DC.

Misure in campo:
Localizzazione di guasti nei cavi alta tensione sia AC che DC, sia terrestri che marini. Misura delle correnti superficiali su isolatori Misure di scariche parziali. Misure di campi elettrici statici. Misura di campi elettrici e magnetici in bassa frequenza. Misure di interferenze elettromagnetiche (da 10 kHz a 5 GHz). Misure di rumore. Misura di campi elettrici nelle vicinanze di elettrodi HVDC marini.

Progettazione di linee aeree alta tensione:
Coordinamento dell’isolamento (spazi in aria “interni” ed “esterni” e linee di fuga degli isolatori). Perdite corona. Interferenze radio e televisive. Rumore. Campi elettrici e magnetici. Protezione dalle fulminazioni. Dimensionamento termico e corona dei conduttori. Sistemi di protezione dei conduttori di polo e di elettrodo di linee DC.

Specificazione di cavi terrestri e sottomarini:
Specifiche di prova di cavi di polo ed elettrodo HVDC e cavi alta tensione AC. Specifiche di installazione. Specifiche di prova di cavi in fibra ottica. Metodi diagnostici on-line. Specificazione di localizzatori di guasto. Sistemi di protezione di cavi di polo ed elettrodo. Specifiche per le prove da condurre su attività di root cause analysis a seguito di guasti.

Specificazione su stazioni di conversione HVDC:
Specifiche di prova per component delle stazioni di conversione, in particolare: filtri AC e DC, resistori, condensatori e batterie di condensatori, reattori in aria, filtri di radio interferenza in alta tensione, isolatori passamuro AC e DC, isolatori AC e DC, valvole e convertitori (tecnologia LCC e VSC), reattori di spianamento, scaricatori di sovratensione, divisori di tensione, trasduttori di corrente, sezionatori. Coordinamento dell’isolamento (spazi in aria “interni” ed “esterni” e linee di fuga degli isolatori), affidabilità di componente, campi elettrici statici e in bassa frequenza, radio interferenze, protezione da scariche atmosferiche, analisi e inferenza armonica.

Specificazione elettrodi HVDC:
Specificazione di test. Effetti di corrosione indotti su strutture metalliche installate nelle vicinanze di elettrodi HVDC.

Metodi di manutenzione dei sistemi HVDC:
Isolatori. Cavi alta tensione. Filtri HVDC. Interruttori. Sezionatori. Trasformatori di misura di tensione e corrente. Filtri radio interferenza. Reattori in aria. Resistori. Banchi di condensatori. Scaricatori di sovratensione. Ponti di conversione. Isolatori passa muro. Trasduttori di corrente. Divisori di tensione. Interruttori di trasferimento di neutro. Terminazioni cavo. Reattori di spianamento DC.

Specifiche area di esperienza:
Fisica della contaminazione degli isolatori. Degradazione dei materiali isolanti sotto sollecitazioni elettriche e termiche. Modelli matematici per la stima delle tensioni di tenuta degli isolatori AC e DC. Vita utile residua e affidabilità dei componenti elettrici in alta tensione attraverso i modelli stocastici di Wiener. Modelli statistici per l’elaborazione dei dati e inferenza. Statistica dei valori estremi. La legge di scala statistica.
