RESEARCH PROJECT’S ABSTRACT:
The research project is aimed at analyzing the emancipation movements of women belonging to the subaltern Ādivāsī communities of Jharkhand, a state of eastern India. The general objective is to provide an exhaustive framework of these movements from Indian post-independence while moving in three main directions: first of all, I’m going to analyze the problems faced by adivasi women and the steps that have been taken at the governmental and non-governmental levels towards their resolution. Then, I focus on adivasi women's rights sphere at the grassroot level as well as the strategies used by adivasi female leadership. Finally, I’m going to investigate the contact points between local and supra-local levels, exploring how the aspirations of the women of villages reflect on the movements organized by urban centers.
