Maria Grazia Ercolino, graduated with honors in Architecture, specialized in "Restoration of Monuments", Philosphy Doctor in "Conservation of Architectural Heritage" and assignee of a research fund (2005-2007) at "Sapienza", University of Rome. Since 2007 she is Assistant Professor of Architectonic Restoration (senior researcher) at "Sapienza", University of Rome. In 2015 she obtained the habilitation as Associate Professor according to the Italian National Scientific Qualification procedure.
From 1998 to 2005 she cooperated with the Section of Art’s History of Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani (Institute of the Enciclopedia Italiana), she is member of the editorial board of Materiali e strutture. Problemi di conservazione, member of the board of Quaderni dell’Istituto di Storia. dell’architettura and member of the scientific committee of the editorial series Dialoghi infra architettura. She is member, since 2007, of Centro Studi per la Storia dell’Architettura (CSSAR) and member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Architectural Restoration (SIRA).

Her research activities are focused on the some issues, among them the forms and techniques of restoration of ruins, with particular attention paid to the themes of post-war reconstruction, the relationship between the aesthetic and the conservative dimension, the restoration and enhancement of urban archaeological areas; the use of new materials in the relationship between old structure and new project; the disciplinary comparison between Western and Eastern culture, with particular attention to China.
