Since 2001 she is full professor of Chemical Engineering Fundamentals at the Faculty of Engineering of Rome University “La Sapienza”.
Now she teaches the courses of “Transport Phenomena” for undergraduate students in Chemical Engineering, “Chemical Reactors” for graduate students in Chemical engineering and “Artificial Organ Engineering” for graduate students in Biomedical engineering.
She was the co-ordinator of studies in Chemical Engineering from
November 2008 to October 2014. From November 2010 she is the Director of the Master (for graduate students) in Polymer processes and polymer material engineering, organized by the University of Rome La Sapienza and by LyondellBasell, now transformed in high level “International Moplen School”.
From 2001 she is member of the teaching board of the PhD course in Industrial Chemical Processes, subsequently named PhD course in Chemical Engineering and now Chemical Processes for Industry and Environment, at the University of Rome La Sapienza.
In the years 2007-2008 and 2016-2017 she was the co-ordinator of the teaching board of the PhD course.
She was tutor for several graduate thesis in Chemical Engineering and seven PhD thesis.

Since 2005 he was involved in two FISR projects on the production of hydrogen by methane steam reforming in membrane reactors and from water through thermochemical cycles powered by solar energy, respectively. In particular, she was involved in the working group at the Chemical Engineering Department (DICMA) of Rome for the FISR Project (ENEA) (TEPSI: New Technologies and Processes to face the transition and to prepare the future of hydrogen system - Hydrogen from water through solar thermochemical cycles) and in the working group on process modelling at DICMA for the FISR Project (AQ): Pure hydrogen from natural gas by reforming at complete conversion achieved through integration of chemical reaction and membrane separation
She was involed in the research project Metisol, financially supported by Ministero dell'Ambiente aimed to the production of hydrogen-methane mixture for automotive via solar energy (team leader Centro Ricerche Fiat)
From December 2011 to December 2015, she was responsible of the research unit of Sapienza in the European COMETHY Compact Multifuel-Energy To Hydrogen converter (EC-7FP Collaborative Project co-funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU).
Furthermore, from 2011 to 2016, she led Collaboration Agreements with ENEA within the Accordo di Programma with MISE.

She serves as evaluator of the research project for the University or Padova and for the Università Italo-Francese.
She serves as referee for several scientific journal, including Chemical Engineering Journal,
International & Engineering Chemistry Research, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Chromatography, Water Research

The research activity is documented by more that 150 articles and congress presentations (107 documents in Scopus, with H-index 19 and more than 1100 citations); the main research interests are Phase equilibrium thermodynamics, with special attention to the anlaysis of non conventional system and separation processes, chemical and biochemical reactor engineering, biological processes for pollutant removal, controlled drug release, biomedical engineering.

Currently, the main research fields deal with hydrogen production from renewable energy sources, membrane reactor modelling, analysis of two phase portioning bioreactors for xenobiotic removal and soil remediation, production and upgrading of biogas from anaerobic processes. Research is carried out in collaboration with different international teams; in particular, the hydrogen production project and membrane reactor modelling have been carried out in cooperation with Technion (Haifa, Israele), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (Greece), 
Chemical Process & Energy Resources Institute (C.P.E.R.I.); as for the two phase biological processes, they have been conducted in cooperation with Queen’s University (Kingston, Canada).
