Thesis title: Modelli digitali immersivi e spazi virtuali per la comunicazione del patrimonio culturale nel Metaverso

This research in the field of Design (CEAR-10/A) explores the relationship between digital representation, the Metaverse and the enhancement of cultural heritage, in a context in which the role of the architect is evolving from designer of physical spaces to designer of virtual experiences. The methodology adopted is based on a dual process that integrates the theoretical foundations of analysis of the Metaverse, Meta-Architecture and 3D representation processes with targeted practical experimentation. The latter is divided into two complementary case studies, chosen to investigate different modes of interaction: a Virtual Reality experience focused on storytelling and individual immersion, and a Metaverse environment centred on virtual architecture as a space for social enjoyment and collective interaction. The primary output of the study is the formalisation of a Replicable Methodological Model for the transposition of cultural heritage into immersive experiences. This model is configured as an operational process with validity both in the academic-educational field, offering a structured framework for research, and in the professional-business field, providing a tested workflow. Among the specific results, the research demonstrates the effectiveness of VR as a tool for accessibility and for a new form of digital representation, and validates the Metaverse as a platform for shared communication and the creation of digital communities. In conclusion, the study outlines two directions for future development. On a technical level, there is a need for continuous improvement in immersive quality, strategic exploration of physical-digital hybridisation, and integration of Artificial Intelligence into representation processes. On an ethical level, there is a responsibility to operate according to a critical approach where the role of the designer is transformed from passive user to conscious curator of processes.
