Marco Fortunato received the Master’s degree in Physics of Condensed Matter, summa, from the University of Rome "Roma Tre" in 2015 and the Ph.D. degrees in Electrical, Materials and Nanotechnology Engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 2018. Researcher in Electrotechnics at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" from December 2018 to March 2020. Since April 2020 he has been a fixed term Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering at the same University. Currently, he is with the Department of Astronautical, Electrical and Energetic Engineering (DIAEE) of the University of Rome "La Sapienza". Since 2021 he has been a member of the Electrical, Materials and Nanotechnology Engineering PhD Course, University of Rome "La Sapienza". He was the assistant at the Electrotechnics course for the degree in Aerospace Engineering and “Micro-Nano sensors and actuators laboratory” for the master degree in Engineering of Nanotechnology and he has been teaching a part of the course of Electrotechnics for the Master’s degree in Nanotechnology Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza".

The research activity of Marco Fortunato is in the field of electrical engineering and of nanotechnology. In particular, it has been recently focused on the:
- production and characterization of advanced nanostructured piezoelectric materials and thin films for energy harvesting, wearable sensors and structural health monitoring applications;
- morphological characterization trough Scanning Electron Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM);
- nanometer and micrometer methods and techniques to evaluate the piezoelectric coefficient;
- methods and techniques for electrical measurements;
- development of graphene based electrodes trough chemical vapor deposition, sputter coting and liquid-phase exfoliation of multilayer of graphene (MLG) for energy harvesting, wearable sensors and structural health monitoring applications;
- development of graphene-based highly sensitive piezoresistive paints/coatings and nanocomposites with strain sensing capabilities for structural health monitoring applications;
- fabrication and characterization of novel flexible physical sensors based on the use of porous polymeric structures loaded with nanoparticles for wearable electronics applications.
Such research activity has led to the publication of papers in international journals and proceedings of international symposia.
