Marcello Valerio Cadorin graduated in Architecture five years ago from Sapienza University of Rome with a thesis in architectural design entitled: “Designing Celimontana Square in a dialectical relationship with Paolo Portoghesi”, under the guidance of the Master of the same name. Having qualified to practice as a freelancer, he subsequently became a PhD student in Planning, Design and Architectural Technology. He attended studios of architects Vittorio Garatti, Franco Purini and Paolo Portoghesi. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Milan “La Statale” and a master's degree in Economics from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, both in Milan.
His research, with an interdisciplinary approach in an experimental dimension, focuses mainly on urban planning or the urban scale and on public space for the regeneration of cities, relating to issues related to cultural heritage. The theoretical focus is also on the correspondence between political, economic, and spiritual theocratic power and the conformation of space, analyzing its creative process, constituted precisely by the tool and procedure of urban design. It studies, more specifically, the relationship between the governing structure, immaterial and ideological elements, and their sensitive manifestation in design outcomes, investigating their theoretical, formal, sociological and artistic implications. Moving along the continuum between the design disciplines of Urban Planning, Architecture, and Design, it explores the art world as a precursor to social changes and the conception of the city's human landscape, seeking to inscribe this process within a general theory of universal vision of design practice.
He attends in ideas and design competitions, where he critically applies and evaluates his hypotheses. He is an assistant professor at the Design Laboratory.
Finally, he is interested in garden art, religions and spirituality. A former member for a time of the Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente of Milan, he is currently a member of three Italian association: the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri - ANC, the Istituto Nazionale di Urbanistica - INU and the Istituto Nazione di Architettura - INARCH.
