This thesis aims to investigate the elements of alterity in Sasha Sokolov’s novel "Between Dog and Wolf" (Между собакой и Волком, 1980). The concept of alterity will serve us as an analytic tool and as a reading key to Sokolov's text, which is widely recognised as one of the higher achievements of Russian-language prose of the late 20th Century. The thoroughly analysis of "Between Dog and Wolf" draws upom some of the most stimulating theories of late 20th century theoretical landscape, bringing together Husserlian phenomenology and critical Feminism, Lacanian psychoanalysis and Derrida's deconstruction. Our final goal is to provide an innovative reading of Sokolov's novel oriented towards an "ethics of alterity".
