Lorena Forni (PhD) is Assistant Professor in Philosophy of Law and she is an Adjunct Professor of General Theory and Methods of Law in the School of Law at the University of Milano – Bicocca [SSD Giur- 17/A, Phylosophy of Law].
She collaborates with public and private universities and research institutions and with editorial boards of national and international scientific journals. For more than ten years, she has been providing training and bioethical consultancy for healthcare professionals as a bioethicist lawyer.
She is a member of the UNESCO International Chair in Bioethics and collaborates on various research projects with both Italian and international organizations. In recent years, she has worked on introducing a commitment to peace in the reform project of the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, as a member of the Steering Committee of the Department of Bioethics and Philosophical Approach to Law.
For many years, she has also been involved in the field of legal education and philosophical explorations within the realm of Law and Literature.
She is a member and instructor of the Bbetween Sustainability initiative at the University of Milan - Bicocca, in adherence to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Since 2023, she has been teaching the course Bbetween Sustainability: The Language of Peace and Peace as a Language, in accordance with Goals 16, 4.1, and 4.7 of the UN 2023 Agenda. The course specifically aims to promote peaceful and more inclusive societies (Goal 16) through quality education (Goal 4.1) to foster the development of human rights, gender equality, a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship, and the appreciation of cultural diversity (Goal 4.7).
She has published numerous essays on bioethical and theoretical-legal issues, and has written several scientific monographs, including La laicità nel pensiero dei giuristi italiani, tra tradizione e innovazione, Giuffré 2010; La sfida della giustizia in sanità. Salute, equità, risorse, Giappichelli 2016, and Il diritto e i suoi strumenti. Un percorso di teoria generale, Giappichelli 2021.
