ACADEMIC POSITION
Full Professor of Linguistics at the Dipartimento di Linguistica of the Università Roma Tre from October 1st 2006 to December 31st 2012 and at the Dipartimento di Filosofia, Comunicazione e Spettacolo since January 1st 2013 (associate professor since October 1st, 1999 and ricercatrice (=research scholar since October 1st 1980).
EDUCATION
MA in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the Facultà di Magistero of the Università di Roma “La Sapienza” (November 1974) (dissertation on "Error analysis", 110 with honours/110.
Master of Science in Applied Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh (November 1978) (dissertation on “A listening comprehension course for first-year non-beginner students at Rome University”, with prof. Pit Corder).
Postdoc researcher at the Istituto Linguistico of the Facoltà di Magistero at the Università di Roma "La Sapienza" (from January 1st 1975 to September 30th 1980).
Postgraduate student at the “1980 Linguistic/Tesol Institute” Linguistic Society of America (LSA) at the Department of Linguistics of the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque (grant from the Centro Studi Americani di Roma and from The U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission for the period June-Agust 1980).
Research contract at the Istituto di Psicologia of the CNR (National Research Commission) in Roma for a project on “Linguistics capacities and their implementation on computer” (with prof. Domenico Parisi) (a.a. 1980-81).
"Visiting scholar" at the "1983 Linguistic Institute" of the LSA at the Department of Linguistics of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (June-July 1983).
Visiting professor at the Department of Linguistics and at CSLI (Center for the Study of Language and Information)of the University of Stanford, California (invited by Joan Bresnan) (NATO Senior grant offered by the CNR for the period November-December 1984).
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Syntax and typology (complementation, word order, configurationality and nonconfigurationality in languages); morphology (verbal agreement systems and pronominal markers); interface syntax-semantics (argument structure, obliques, nominal predicates, existentials); interface prosody-syntax-pragmatics (information structure, topic-prominent and focus-prominent languages; spoken language); epistemological problems in linguistics.
Other activities:
1986-1992: Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Dipartimento di Scienze del Linguaggio. LIS, Linguaggio alla “Sapienza”;
1999-2002: Member of the Executive Committee of the SLI (Società Italiana di Linguistica);
2000-2007: Coordinator of the Ph.D programme in Linguistics, since 2002 named “Dottorato in Linguistica sincronica, diacronica ed applicata”;
2006-2011: Member of the Advisory Board of the ‘Italian Journal of Linguistics’;
2010-2012: Coordinator of the Ph.D programme in "Linguistica sincronica, diacronica ed applicata” of the Università Roma Tre (until the XXVIII ciclo);
2013-2015: Responsible of the Curriculum in Linguistics of the Ph.D. programme in Philosoply at the Dipartimento di Filosofia, Comunicazione e Spettacolo;
March 2016-March 2019: Member of the Academic Senate of the Università Roma Tre.
2019-2021: member of CLA (Linguistic University Center) on behalf of the Dipartimento di Filosofia, Comunicazione e Spettacolo.
