Research: Mainstreaming Drag: An Investigation on the Social Dynamics Behind the Contemporary ‘Drag Boom’ in the Italian Context

I am a PhD student in Sociology and Applied Social Research within the Doctoral School in Social and Economic Sciences at Sapienza Università di Roma. My research interests are oriented towards cultural sociology, with a focus on the social dynamics connected to drag performance and queer studies. Specifically, I focus on analyzing the power dynamics underlying drag performances, exploring their connection to neoliberal rationality and contemporary processes of subjectivation.

I have an extensive interdisciplinary background, including a prior PhD in Computational Linguistics, awarded with the “Doctor Europaeus” distinction, as well as an MSc in Astronomy and Astrophysics. I later graduated in Applied Social Sciences in 2023 with full honors.

My academic and professional history spans both education and industry, with experience in high school and university-level teaching, as well as roles at leading tech companies in the field of Natural Language Processing.
