A) Current position
Luca Lorenzetti is full professor of Historical and General Linguistics (“Glottologia”) at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, Italy.

B) Education and Academic History
- LL graduated cum laude in 1991 in Philosophy at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Major: Linguistics.
- PhD in Linguistics (1995), University “Roma Tre”. Topic: Historical Linguistics.
- Fellow in Linguistics at the University of Tuscia (1996-2002)
- Associate Professor of Historical and General Linguistics at the University of Cassino (2002-2011).
- Full Professor of Linguistics at the University of Tuscia, Dpt. of European Languages, Literatures, History, Law and Communication.

(all the following projects were funded as “PRIN” by the Italian Ministry of University):
1999-: Morphosyntactic aspects of the category of number
2000-: The building site of Lorenzo Valla (shaping of the linguistic database)
2001-: Morphology and syntax of gender and number in East Indo- European languages
2003-: Discontinuity and creolization trends in european languages
2005-: “Levels of analysis in the history of Indo-European languages”, as the responsible for the research unit of the University of Cassino (2005-2007).
2008-: Language contact and Language Change in the Mediterranean: North Africa and Ancient Near East 2011-: “Linguistic representations of identity. Sociolinguistic models and historical linguistics”, as the responsible for the research unit of the University of Tuscia (2014).
2017-: Ancient languages and writing systems in contact: a touchstone for language change.
2020-: “Metalinguistic texts as a privileged data source for the knowledge of ancient languages”, as the Principal Investigator of the four research units involved (Tuscia, Napoli “Orientale”, Roma “Sapienza”, Siena “Stranieri”).
