Research: Multicriteria approach to optimize strategies for green road pavements

My research project focuses on updating the pavement catalog by integrating specific material properties into the design phase through an empirical-mechanistic approach that combines experimental data with an in-depth analysis of bituminous material characteristics, considering key variables such as temperature and frequency. The study examines the current traffic spectrum compared to the data from the 1995 CNR catalog, highlighting significant changes in traffic mix and vehicle loads, with case studies in both suburban and urban contexts. Material verification is conducted through uniaxial compression tests at various frequencies and temperatures, developing the Master Curve using the WLF model and 2S2P1D interpolation. The final analysis includes the application of fatigue and rutting laws, life cycle impact assessments, and field surveys, such as the one conducted on SP Ardeatina, to achieve pavement designs that meet current structural demands and real-world usage conditions.
