Thesis title: I principi dello spazio verde urbano nella costruzione ecologica in Cina e in Occidente -Sperimentazione quantitativa e innovazione nella pianificazione della rete ecoloqica urbana locale

In metropolitan areas, the continuous expansion of infrastructure has increasingly put pressure on the natural environments of urban and suburban spaces, exacerbating ecological disturbances and threatening biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and the stability of urban green spaces. This study is grounded in the fundamental principles, theories, and methods of ecological planning, and integrates spatial analysis tools such as Guidos Toolbox, Conefor 2, Fragstats 4, and ArcGIS 10.5. Its objective is to explore and optimize quantitative approaches for planning ecological networks in metropolitan environments. The aim is to provide methodological and technical support for ecological planning in metropolitan areas, effectively address the reduction and fragmentation of green spaces caused by urbanization, and promote a sustainable balance between ecological conservation and socio-territorial development. This study first establishes a theoretical framework for urban ecological networks and green space planning, and, through international comparative analysis, systematically examines the differences in ecological planning principles, methods, and regulatory systems across various countries and regions. Based on this framework—combined with landscape ecology theory and specific case studies—it summarizes the practical experiences and quantitative methods adopted in different regions, assessing their effectiveness and adaptability under varying ecological conditions. This provides a solid methodological foundation for the experimental section of subsequent papers. Building on these findings, the paper proposes an integrated quantitative planning approach (MI-ENP) that combines the strengths of multiple models and methods for constructing and optimizing ecological networks. The metropolitan area of Guangzhou was selected as the case study to validate and further refine this approach. In the case study, the MI-ENP method was applied to identify and classify the main ecological source areas within Guangzhou’s metropolitan region, construct an ecological resistance surface using a novel resistance factor weighting system, select efficient models for building the ecological network, and determine spatial priorities for the placement of ecological corridors. In addition, the rationality and applicability of different ecological corridor width schemes were systematically evaluated, and a species-oriented strategy for ecological network optimization was proposed. This method aims to provide a robust methodological foundation and strong technical support for ecological network planning and biodiversity conservation in metropolitan areas.
