Research: A genre analysis of online music reviews: The rhetoric of evaluation across music genres and decades
Karolina Ryker is a PhD candidate in the field of Linguistics at the University of Silesia in Katowice and Sapienza University of Rome. She graduated with honours from the English Philology: Translation Programme with German at the University of Silesia, completing both her BA and MA studies with theses in the field of translation studies. Her PhD project focuses on genre analysis of online music reviews, and she has presented related findings at several international conferences, including the European Society for the Study of English 2024 Conference (ESSE 2024) in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the International Congress of Linguists 2024 in Poznań, Poland. Her research interests stemming from the PhD project include genre analysis, discourse analysis, corpus linguistics and evaluative language.
