Associate professor in Solid and Structural Mechanics. He has received a MSC degree in Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Sapienza. He was Lecturer in Composite Engineering at the University of Bristol and at the same university he lectured for the Doctoral Training Centre in Advanced Composites of the Bristol Composite Institute (previously called ACCIS). He was Visiting Researcher at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol. He is a founding member of the Diamonds university spin-off whose activities concern diagnostic and structural health monitoring.
Research topics are linear and nonlinear theory of elasticity and viscoelasticity with applications to polymers, composites and nano-composites and to fibre-reinforced materials. He also works in structural identification and damage detection. In 2012 he won the Sapienza Prize for the best PhD thesis in Engineering and he authored the monograph "An introduction to Nonlinear Viscoelasticity of Filled-Rubber" published by Sapienza Editrice.
