Research:
Ioanna P. Arvanitidou was born in Thessaloniki and she holds a BA in Archaeology and History of Art (2008) and a MSc in Byzantine Archaeology (2011) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece. She also holds a Phd in Byzantine/Medieval Archaeology, from Sapienza University of Rome (2016). Since 2010, she is pursuing a second BA in Social Theology (Faculty of Theology, AUTH, Greece) and since 2019 she is pursuing a second PhD in History of Art (Department of History, Anthropology, Religions, Performing Arts, Sapienza University, Italy) entitled Constantinople-Venice: the testimony of spolia.
At the same time, she is a postdoctoral researcher in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki studying the spatial and temporal evolution of the Medieval/ Byzantine baths in the Mediterranean Sea.
She participated in several international conferences and she published seven papers in peer-reviewed journals and volumes, while her PhD on the Byzantine Baths in the Eparchy of Illyricum is pending publication.
During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies she has worked in excavations in Pella, Vergina, Philippi and Thessaloniki. Since 2002, she has worked as a journalist in several TV channels, radio stations and newspapers in Thessaloniki.
