Bio:
Helia Hamedani was born in Tehran-Iran in 1981, now lives and works between Rome and Tehran. She is graduated in Industrial Design in Tehran Art University and two degrees in Art History (BA and master) at La Sapienza University of Rome. She has done her last thesis on Nicolas Bourriaud. Re-reading Relational Aesthetics after 20years and argues its presence untill now. Hamedani, writes for magazines of contemporary visual arts in Iran and Italy. She is an independent curator, particularly interested in Intercultural field. As the project Nomad Artist in the city of arts, 2013 in MACRO (The Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome -Testaccio), an exhibition on the theme of “home”: an ongoing show from 2013-2016: in Nube di OOrt gallery (from 2014-2017), in MAAM Museo dell’Altro e dell’Altrove di Metropoliz (2014) and Daarbast Platform in Tehran (2017). She was the first selected curator of Bridge Art Residency in Sicily, the project that aims to create a bridge in creative sharing and dialogue between distant worlds. In 2018 again with BridgeArt was present in collateral events of Manifesta12 in Palermo. Currently, besides Phd.research in Art History at La Sapienza University of Rome, is co-projecting “GuardoInAlto”. Atelier of intercultural practices; a project oriented in usage of art as a means of education and inclusion. The project is organized by MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts
and ECCOM Association, with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
