Gabriella Mazzei is Full Professor of Comparative Private Law at the University of Rome UnitelmaSapienza, in the Department of Law and Digital Society.

She holds a degree summa cum laude in Law from Sapienza University of Rome, where she defended a thesis in Private Law; a PhD in Comparative Law of Economics and Finance from the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" Faculty of Law, awarded with distinction; a Master's degree in Legal Informatics and New Technology Law from the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna Faculty of Law; and has completed advanced training in Telecommunications Law at LUISS Guido Carli University's Observatory of Intellectual Property, Competition and Telecommunications. She holds Italian National Scientific Habilitation as Full Professor of Comparative Law (2021), Full Professor of Economic Law (2016), and Associate Professor of Comparative Law (2012). She is qualified for the practice of law. She earned a high school diploma in classical studies with highest honours.

Professor Mazzei is Director of the second-level university Master's programme in Antitrust Law, Markets, and Big Data at the University of Rome UnitelmaSapienza.

She is Co-director of the Class A scientific journal Amministrativ@mente and sits on the scientific and editorial committees of other Class A academic journals.

She has authored monographs and numerous scientific papers, and is the co-author and editor of collective volumes on Comparative Private Law, Economic Law, Competition Law, Intellectual Property Law, and New Technology Law.

She has participated and participates in National Research Projects of Significant Interest (PRIN) and University Research Projects, also as Principal Investigator.

Her research focusses on global commons law, protection of fundamental rights in digital society, the evolution of competition law and intellectual property law in the digital era, and harmonisation processes of private law at the European and international levels.

She has conducted research abroad and regularly presents at scientific conferences.

She has served as Visiting Professor at the University of León, Spain.

Since 2004, she has continuously carried out teaching activities across undergraduate, doctoral, master's, and professional programmes in Comparative Private Law, Cultural Goods Circulation Law, Antitrust Law, Intellectual Property Law, Comparative Legal Systems, and Geopolitics.

She is a member of the Italian Association of Comparative Law (AIDC).

At the University of Rome UnitelmaSapienza, Professor Mazzei has served on the University Quality Assurance Board and as the Rector's Delegate for Quality and Teaching and currently serves as the Rector's Delegate for Student Rights to Education.

She is a member of the faculty board of the National Interest PhD in Peace Studies at Sapienza University of Rome.

She was a member of the faculty board of the PhD in Comparative Law of Economics and Finance at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli".

She was a member of the Scientific Committee of the second-level Master's programme in Intellectual Property, Competition and the Market at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli".

She was a member of the National Committee for Biosafety and Biotechnology at the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, she worked in the legislative office of the Minister for Innovation and Technology, and has undertaken consulting assignments with the Department of Economic Affairs.
