Phd in MATHEMATICAL MODELS FOR ENGINEERING, ELECTROMAGNETICS AND
NANOSCIENCES

Giuseppina Monteverde earned a Master degree in Management Engineering in 2020 at the University of Rome La Sapienza with a grade of 110/110 cum laude with mention of excellence, discussing a thesis on "Defects detection and classification of PCB using image processing operations and machine learning".

During her university studies she took part in the Erasmus program for 6 months in Spain, and the “Percorso di Eccellenza”, for which she was selected amongst the ten most deserving students of the faculty. Since November 2020 she is qualified to practice as Information Engineer, section A.

She is currently attending the PhD in Mathematical Models for Engineering, Electromagnetism and Nanoscience (MMIENS), based at the Department of Basic and Applied Sciences for Engineering (SBAI) and collaborates with the company Superelectric S.r.l. as PhD student for the project "HYPERspectral imaging through Artificial intelligence for Building Control". The project is part of the development of innovative methodologies based on Artificial Intelligence for the processing of hyperspectral images oriented to the monitoring and control of cultural heritage through acquisition systems mounted on drones.

The main research topics are mathematical processing of multidimensional data, in particular hyperspectral images; radiometric calibration and atmospheric correction; representation of data complexity and dimensionality reduction, using multiscale representations such as wavelet scattering, Artificial Intelligence methodologies, in particular Deep Learning with Convolutional Neural Networks.

She tutored for the courses of “Analisi e Calcolo Numerico” of the course of study in Energy Engineering (2021/2022, 2022/2023) and "Metodi Numerici con Elementi di Programmazione" of the course of study in Aerospace Engineering (2022/2023).
