I got a master degree in Mechanical engineering at "Sapienza" university of Rome in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 1996. I was a post-doc student (1997-1999) at the University "Roma Tre" of Rome, then I got a research grant at "Sapienza", where I took service as a full-time research assistant in 2000. Since December 2012 I am associate professor in Structural mechanics at "Sapienza" university of Rome, where I also co-ordinated research projects supported by the university (2008-2010). I got a qualification for the role of full professor in 2019. I am enrolled in the list of experts for the National agency for university evaluation. In the rest of the time, I have been part of other local and national research projects. Since 2012 I am part of the teaching staff of the PhD school in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at "Sapienza".
I have authored or co-authored about 130 scientific contributions, of which about 70 in international peer-reviewed journals, on research themes about static and dynamic stability of thin-walled elements, one-dimensional beam models, static and dynamics of curved elements also exhibiting damage, semi-inverse problems in stability, history of mechanics and of its teaching in Italy and Europe.
