Titolo della tesi: HDAC1-3-mediated regulation of miRNAs and lncRNA H19 expression inhibits the mesothelial to mesenchymal transition (MMT) of primary mesothelial cells
In vitro study of primary mesothelial cells may pave the way for the individuation of therapeutic strategies and to unveil specific prognostic and functional markers of MMT.
The specific aim of the study is to investigate the epigenetic regulation and the horizontal transfer of signals leading to peritoneal fibrosis.
In particular, we explore in primary cells from patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis the ability of HDAC1-3 inhibition by MS-275 to modulate the expression of non coding RNAs (i.e. miRNAs targeting TGFBR1 and of lnc H19) and their functional impact on mesothelial cell plasticity. Moreover, we analyse EVs transfer miRNAs promoting MMT reversal.
