Research: What is a language? Ideas about language in the rogue book tradition, 1535-1642
Giulia Drago is a PhD student in English Literatures, Language and Translation at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". She obtained her master's degree in 2024 with a dissertation titled "'Inglese Italianato: Early Modern English Attitudes to Language in Rogue Pamphlets". She obtained a B.A. in Languages, Cultures, Literature, Translation from the same university in 2022, with a dissertation in political discourse analysis.
During her B.A. and M.A., she was also a student at Sapienza School for Advanced Studies (SSAS), where she completed additonal study and research in the field of Shakespeare Studies, as well as interdisciplinary activities.
Her research project is focused on the study of the genre of rogue books and coney-catching pamphlets, focusing on idedas about language and vernaculars. Her research interests focus on the history of the English language, stylistics, Shakespeare studies and literary translation.
