Giorgio Ruberti is Associate Professor in Musicology and History of Music (L-Art 07) at the Department of Humanities of the University of Naples Federico II, where he teaches in the master's degree in Music and Entertainment Disciplines. History and Theory.
Graduated in piano and in Modern Literature, he got the PhD in History and Analysis of Musical Cultures at the University of Rome la Sapienza.
Fellow for the European Union and research fellow at the University of Naples Federico II, he has participated at many national and international conferences, including those organized by the International Society of Musicology, the International Association for the Study on Popular Music, the Saggiatore Musicale, the Gruppo di Analisi e Teoria Musicale.
He is member of the scientific committee and of the editorial committee of the Centro Studi Canzone Napoletana and of the journal Chiavi Musicali (FedOAPress).
He is a member of the College of Lecturers of the PhD in History and Analysis of Musical Cultures of the Sapienza University of Rome.
His main research interests include 19th-century Italian opera, contemporary vocal chamber music, and classical Neapolitan song. He has published in the field of popular music studies and on the relationship between psychoanalysis and art, with particular reference to music. He has recently been working on music and environmental sustainability from an ecomusicological perspective.
