Ricerca: Characterization and Alignment of Crystal Collimators of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN
Gianmarco Ricci (Terracina, 1995) is a PhD student in engineering and applied science for energy and industry for the department of astronautic, electric and energetic engineering.
He is currently collaborating with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in the Mechatronics, Robotics and Operations Section. In the last years have been extensively studied at CERN the crystal collimation technique. The latter, makes use of crystal to steer beam halo particles with high efficiency. His work includes studying how to improve the crystal characterization and alignment of these devices with a precision of a few micrometers in the 27km highest-energy particle collider in the world, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
Graduated with a master’s degree in electronic engineering in March 2021 with a thesis developed at CERN with title "Long Short-Term Memory Recurrent Neural Network for the Fully-Automatic Collimator Beam-Based Alignment in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)".
