Gianfranco Gabriele Nucera is an Assistant Professor of International Law at the Department of Political Science of the Sapienza University. Professor of “Environmental justice and the fight against climate change”. Expert in international protection and human rights at the Territorial Commission of Rome for the recognition of international protection, designated by UNHCR.
In 2014, he obtained his PhD in International Order and Human Rights, XXVI cycle, with research on “Sustainable development in international law”. From 2017 to 2020, he was a Research Fellow in International Law at the Department of Political Science of the Sapienza University, with research on “The proposal of an Italian space legislation”.
In 2017 he was selected for the research program of the Centre for Studies and Research of the Academy of International Law in The Hague, on the topic of “Information via Satellite: A Human Rights Perspective”. He currently participates in the activities of several research projects, including the project HABITABLE - Linking Climate Change, Habitability and Social Tipping Points: Scenarios for Climate Migration, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 program.
Member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal “International Order and Human Rights”. Member of the Italian Society of International Law and of the European Union (SIDI), the American Society of International Law (ASIL), the Association for the Study of the World Refugee Problem (AWR), and the Italian Council for Refugees (CIR). He is also a member of the European Centre for Space Law (ECSL/ESA).
