Research: Non-destructive techniques for strain characterization and failure analysis in microelectronic devices down to the nanoscale: spotlight on Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (TERS)

In 2017 I got a Bachelor's Degree in “Electronics Engineering”. Subsequently, in 2020, I got a Master's Degree in "Nanotechnology Engineering" with a grade of 110/110 cum laude and a work thesis entitled <>.
In the same year, 2020, I obtained a scholarship for the PhD program in “Mathematical models for engineering, electromagnetics and nanosciences”.
The main activities of my PhD project focus on the use of multiscale and non-destructive techniques for the characterization of strain/stress and failure analisys in electronic devices down to the nanometer scale. In particular, the instrumentation used is represented by: AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) µ-RAMAN, PL (Photoluminescence), TERS (Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy), TEPL (Tip-Enhanced Photoluminescence Spectroscopy), X-Ray Diffraction and High Resolution X-Ray Diffraction (HRXRD) techniques, which have the potential to be non-destructive and to achieve a resolution at the nanoscale.
The activities of the PhD project are carried out in the framework of those of the European Project Challenges (Real time nano CHAracterization reLatEd techNloGiEeS -https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/861857) and are also partly carried out in the institute "Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives" (CEA-Leti), in Grenoble.
Furthermore, simultaneously with the activities foreseen in the PhD project, I carry out several collaborations and research projects on various topics related to spectroscopic techniques applied to biological materials, cultural heritage, semiconductors or classical (silicon-based) electronics devices.
