Research: The Greek Stadium. Facilities, Spaces, Festivals.
CURRICULUM VITAE
In the academic year 2021/22 I obtained a Master's Degree in Archaeology from the University of Rome La Sapienza with a grade of 110/110 cum laude. My thesis, titled "The Statues of Castrum Novum: Iconography, Style, Context," was supervised by Professor Annalisa Lo Monaco, Chair of Greek and Roman Archaeology and Art History, with Dr. Flavio Enei, Director of the Museo Civico di Santa Marinella “Museo del Mare e della Navigazione Antica", and Dr. Giandomenico Spinola, Curator of the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the Vatican Museums, serving as co-advisors.
Starting from the academic year 2023/2024, I am a Ph.D. candidate in Archaeology at the University of Rome La Sapienza, conducting a research titled "The Greek Stadium: Facilities, Spaces, Festivals." and supervised by Professor Annalisa Lo Monaco, Chair of Greek and Roman Archaeology and Art History. The research focuses on the morphology, the functions within secular and religious spheres and the interactions with the surrounding space of Greek stadiums. The objective is to individually study Greek stadiums, analyze their characteristics, and perform a comparative analysis to identify common features and potential avenues for future research.
Main Excavation and Survey Activities:
- 2017 Excavation Campaign at Dragoncello, Ostia, University of Rome La Sapienza, under the scientific direction of Professor Gloria Olcese. Participation in excavation activities, photography, and documentation.
- 2018 Excavation Campaign at Tenea, Chiliomodi, Corinth, under the scientific direction of Dr. Elena Korka, General Director of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage at the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports. Participation in survey, excavation, photography, documentation, as well as cleaning and study of ceramics.
- 2020-2021 Excavation Campaigns at Castrum Novum, Santa Marinella, under the scientific direction of Dr. Flavio Enei, Director of the Museo Civico di Santa Marinella “Museo del Mare e della Navigazione Antica". Participation in logistics, survey, excavation, photography, documentation, cleaning, and study of ceramics, as well as hosting and guiding visitors.
- 2023 Excavation Campaign at Collina della Gaggera – Contrada Triolo, Parco archeologico di Selinunte, under the scientific direction of Professor Annalisa Lo Monaco, Chair of Greek and Roman Archaeology and Art History. and Dr. Claudio Parisi Presicce, Capitol Superintendent for Cultural Heritage and Director of the Capitolini Museums and Archaeological Museums of the Capitol Superintendent for Cultural Heritage.
