Francesca Colella is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of L’Aquila.

She is Scientific lead for UnivAq for the University Corridors for Refugees Program (UNICORE), an international project promoted by UNHCR.

She is a member of REDE MIGRA, an international network of researchers focused on migration studies within the social sciences (ISCTE: University of Lisbon).

She is the Principal Investigator of several projects on gender issues, including the PRIN 2022 – NRRP project on women’s empowerment and equal opportunities, and the INTERGEN project on sustainable entrepreneurship among young women, funded under the NRRP program.

She also coordinated research about Global Compact for Migration (Sapienza University of Rome) and about female role models and leadership styles (University of L’Aquila).

She is Editor-in-chief of the series titled “Social DistrActors. Social Studies Series” published by Franco Angeli (with V. Grassi).

She is the author of numerous national and international scientific publications and is the University of L’Aquila representative for the “Inclusion and Social Justice” working group within RUS – Network of Universities for Sustainable Development.

She served on the national executive board of the AIS – Italian Association of Sociology during the 2013–2016 term and is currently a member of the Scientific Council of AIS – Gender Studies Section.
