Professor Emeritus at University of Santiago de Compostela. Dr. Felipe F Casanueva received his medical degree from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. After completing his medical training and his PhD in Madrid, he started his Post-Doc first in Milan (Italy) where he joined the group of Prof. Eugenio Muller, and then in Winnipeg (Canada), where he finish it, working with Prof. Henry Friesen.
He has served as President of the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Endocrinology (ISE).
Currently is President of the International Society of Endocrinology. He is member of several other academic societies and serves on the editorial board of numerous journals, with more than 380 peer-reviewed papers to his name.
Prof. Casanueva also served as the Editor-inChief of Obesity and Metabolism until 31 August 2011.
He was Head of the Endocrinolgy and Nutrition Division of the Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Santiago de Compostela, Spain and Honoris Causes of Lodz's University, Poland.
