Research: From Manuscript to Performance: Experimental Adaptations as Textual Reconstruction in Early Modern Drama

Francesca Paola Natale is a PhD candidate in English Literature, Language and Translation at Sapienza University of Rome (literary curriculum - English literature). In 2025, she earned her Master's degree in English and Anglo-American Studies from Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis titled "An Anatomy of the Body: Embodiment, Performance, Macbeth". She previously obtained her Bachelor's degree in Modern European Languages, Cultures and Literatures in 2022 from the University of Naples "Federico II", with a thesis titled "Hamlet between Action and Representation". Her research project focuses on the relationship between editing and performance in the theatre of Christopher Marlowe. Her academic interests include textual editing, performance studies and embodiment.
